a project of Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization https://www.ehons.org/
Occupational workshops have been held at the Reception Center for refugees in Subotica and Sombor (Serbia) since August as part of the project “Protection, support and humanitarian aid to people on the move”.
When the weather permits, occupation workshops take place in Subotica in which music, dance, drawing, and making small objects are intertwined. Within them, Ivana (leader) and Tatjana (assistant): animate, guide, teach, support, console, and motivate the users of the Reception Center.
These healing sessions take place in an open space. Let’s place the carpet and the chairs and thus mark the place where, as with Peter Brook, art will take place, the exchange between those who create and those who observe. And it is created according to themes that emerge from the process: the need for happiness, for the journey to the desired destination, images from the homeland, the search for identity, vision of the future, life in motion… We dance to the rhythm of Arabic, Punjabi, Pashto, Urdu, Kurdish, English, and Serbian with a lot of non-verbal languages. Glad that it is possible when we all want it.
The workshops are led by Ivana Indjin, multimedia artist, and art and drama therapist, with the assistance of Tatjana Marticki, a master of visual arts.
The project is financed by HEKS/EPER, Switzerland
